Isaiah 8:1-15
2 Thessalonians
3:6-18
Luke 22:31-38
After reading these three
passages it was difficult at first to see what the point of the three passages
was. Eventually it hit me. I was reminded of the story/poem “Footprints.” It talks about two sets of footprints in the
sand, one set being one person’s footprints, and the second set being God’s
footprints. The perception from the
person is that God left him, but really God was carrying him in the tough
times. That is where I found the
point. God is always with us. That is what Immanuel means—“God is with
us.” He is there in the good and the bad
times. Not only is He there in the bad
time, but He is carrying us through the bad times. Not only is God with us, He will keep us
safe. How great is that, to always know
that wherever we are, no matter what the situation, God is always there and
will keep us safe? That is the comfort
that we can take with us now, in this season of advent, and into every season
of the year. We can carry the comfort
and peace of knowing God will always be with us and never leave us, and he will
keep us safe in the process.
Prayer: Awesome and Loving God, Thank you for
everything you have ever given us. We
are so blessed, we don’t know how much.
Thank you. God help us to always
find peace and comfort in knowing you are always with us and will keep us
safe. In the name of your gift to us,
Your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
