Isaiah 9:18 – 10:4
2 Peter 2:10b-16
Matthew 3:1-12
Isaiah 9:18-10:4—There is a very foreboding tone in this
passage. It talks about how wickedness among human kind has been raging like a
fire killing everything in its path, and if people do wicked things, who will
save them on judgment day? Because of this, the Lord’s anger is still great and
“has not turned away.” This passage was very deep and quite true. When people
continue to sin, their wickedness only leaves behind destruction and
devastation and the Lord’s anger heightens with it.
2 Peter 2:10b-16—This
is another passage that pertains to sinners. In this scripture, it basically
promises that people who sin will get punished and the righteous will be saved.
The point is really sent home when they say that angels were punished for their
transgressions. If angels can be sent to Hell, people can be sent there as
well. The passage was pretty intimidating. It left no room for misconceptions
or delusions. You reap what you sow. If people sin, they will most definitely
be punished.
Matthew 3:1-12—In this next reading, John the Baptist
is baptizing many people. He told the people they need to repent, “for the
kingdom of heaven has come near.” However, as he is doing so he notices a lot
of Pharisees and Sadducees who had fled from the danger that was coming. John
the Baptist agreed to baptize them and let them repent, but he warned them that
someone far more powerful than he will be along and will bring with him the
good, and burn the wicked. This is another passage that warns people not to
commit sins. People can repent all they want but in the end, they will be
judged.
The Lord has helped us in
so many ways. He helped us in His life while he walked this earth and he
continues to help us in spirit. He is our prophet that will lead us to the Holy
Land and we will always need Him to wash away our sins.
Prayer: O Lord, our
Savior, may you keep guiding us to the path of righteousness. We need help
Lord. We continue to sin after all that you have done for us but we need your
guidance everyday to help lead us to the way of salvation. Amen.
