Isaiah 11:10-16
Revelations 20:1-10
John 5:30-47
John 5:3—“I can do nothing
on my own. As I hear, I judge; and my
judgment is just, because I seek to do not my own will but the will of him who
sent me.”
What a wonderful reminder
this is to all of us that all that we do should be the will of our Father. As we go about our daily lives, it is
sometimes difficult to keep focused on “the will of the Father.”
Have you experienced being
cut off by a rude driver, dealing with a surly sales clerk, not being given the
recognition you deserve in the workplace, dealing with workmen who are more
interested in getting your money than they are in providing a valuable service,
or being hurt by someone you really care for? All of these situations, and others
that only you can think of, require a conscious effort to remember what the
“will of the Father” is, and how we should handle each of these uncomfortable
situations.
During the Christmas
season, the season of love and good will, it is a little easier to remember
what we are committed to as Christians.
It is also a good time to reflect on how we can maintain that focus
throughout the year.
Prayer: Dear Father, although your word teaches us
what you want from your people, it is difficult to for us to keep that in mind
when we are confronted with difficult situations. We pray for your forgiveness and ask that you
help us focus on ‘your will’ in all that we do.
Amen.
