Isaiah 2:5-22
1 Thessalonians 3:1-13
Luke 20:27-40

Isaiah 2:5-22Many years ago, growing up as a child from a Christian home, my parents were very concerned about what most people thought were their gods and that these gods could bring them good luck.

In Isaiah’s time, men did not worship the true living God, but instead falsely worshiped silver and gold.  Their lands were covered with idols.  They bowed down to manmade gods.  I remembered, when people from various tribes were so attached to false gods as a child, they went to these gods for luck, children, jobs, and many times, to take away someone else’s job or to become the superior at a particular job. In many instances, however, these so-called gods had to pray to the almighty God to help them.  If this is the case, why worship false gods when they have to ask God for their own strength?  Do not depend on idols.  Your heavenly father will take care of you.

Prayer:  Dear God, open the eyes and minds of all mankind so that they may seek your understanding.  Amen.
